Fourth of July
Yesterday, however, I attended the funeral of my aunt's father. He was one of those people that you can only remember with a smile on his face. As it turns out, he was a WW2 veteran with several medals of honor. I only found that out after his death. The graveside flag folding ceremony was such a touching of a moment. The officer spoke so tenderly and sincerely to his wife of 64 years, as he knelt in front of her, expressing gratitude for his service. It left such a lasting impression. And also to that generation-how lucky we are to have had them. So as I watch the fireworks, I'll be remember those that made freedom possible.
I'm taking a fruit and cheese platter made up like the American flag to the party today ,(idea from Pinterest- REALLY like Pinterest!)
Happy Independence Day!
